Activities and Tourist Attractions

While you're in the Philippines for our wedding, make sure to experience the best of Manila and Siargao! While in Manila, immerse yourself in the rich culture by exploring historic landmarks like Intramuros and Rizal Park, or indulge in the vibrant nightlife at Poblacion, and restaurants in BGC (Bonifacio Global City). For a taste of Filipino cuisine, don't miss out on local delicacies such as kare-kare, adobo and halo-halo. If you love to shop the bride’s favourite spots are Greenbelt Makati and Power Plant Mall.

In contrast, Siargao offers a serene escape with its pristine beaches and world-renowned surf spots like Cloud 9. Unwind by island-hopping to nearby islets or swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Sugba Lagoon. Whether you seek adventure or relaxation, both destinations promise unforgettable experiences for our cherished guests.

Key Travel Information

  • You’ll be booking two flights:

    1) Flying into Ninoy Aquino International Airport originally known as Manila International Airport (MIA)

    2) Flying into Sayak Airport commonly known as Siargao Airport. It is the main airport serving Siargao Island located in Del Carmen, Surigao del Norte, Philippines.

  • We recommend downloading Airalo which is an affordable way to use data in the Philippines.

  • The equivalent of Uber is Grab in the Philippines. Please make sure you download the app if you plan on using ride share in Manila. You can connect your credit card and easily pay for your ride and tip (no need for cash or a Philippines Bank Account).

Ride share on smaller islands are via Tricycle.

  • The voltage in the Philippines is 220v compared to 120v in North America. Apple products are universal, however please be prepared with a converter (not an adapter).

  • We recommend not drinking tap water in the Philippines. Most hotels and restaurants will provide mineral/filtered water. It’s always best to ask first!

Please be responsible and prepare your immunity and gut health before travelling, and bringing any probiotics, supplements and health kits.

  • 10%+ is recommended based on your personal budget. Note that your some bills will already include this so it’s up to your discretion.

Please also be conscious of where and how you handle your money.

  • Cash: We recommend arriving with at least 4,000-5,000 PHP (which is about $100 CAD). There will also be banks in Manila where you can exchange money.

Credit Card: Using a No Foreign Transaction Fees credit card is helpful to have on hand while shopping at SM Malls or restaurants that accept CC in Manila. It’s always best to exchange in pesos vs. your home currency when prompted on the machine.

When withdrawing large sums of money on smaller islands, please be aware of the ATM’s cash capacity on the weekends in tourist areas. Some bank machines can run out of money by the weekend, and therefore you’ll need to wait until they’re refilled.
